Hi Zhkent, Thanks for the feedback. If using your friends gps you are able to get a table of xyz survey points then you should be able to import this into the program by selecting 'Existing' from the menu and then 'Define Terrain'. From there click on the button with a "+" and a file symbol and select the file (.csv, .txt, .xyz etc...). After this you can select the X,Y,Z and Tag columns of your data and it should build a TIN of your existing OK. There is a different process for takeoff and CAD data. The process is exactly the same for the proposed, apart from you need to add a 'surface' earthworks element. The Lite edition doesn't include the surface element only a platform that allows you to draw a level\graded area with side slopes. This is still very useful though for designing building pads or a pond etc... Also you can estimate the volume of your survey above a certain level by drawing a platform around the survey and setting it to Cut only and reading the cut volume. This is the technique used for estimating stockpiles. I am not sure how relevant this is to the work you do. If you are just interested by calculating the volume between two surveys then only the pro edition can do that. I hope this helps you out, if you need further help e-mail [email protected] they are always willing to answer technical questions and talk you though what steps to follow.
