Iirc, when pumping from a hydrant the next hydrant down the line is supposed to have a minimum of 20 psi. This is to keep from pulling contaminated water into the main. Most departments have hydrants color coded so the pump operator knows the max flow available. Water hammer can be a problem if nozzles are closed to rapidly.
