Dear friends: What would be the difference between 140 g and 14 g and the same for 120 g and 12 g, as they look almost the same kind of machines.

Comparing a 140 to a 14 is like comparing a D6k to a D6r, I can't give any specs about the two but the 14 is quite a bit bigger, blade, tractor, and horsepower.

A very good place to start would be Caterpillar's website. Even though they now have the "M" series specs, you can use them to compare 12/120, 14/140, 16/160. Things have changed over the years, machines have grown in horsepower and weight, some model numbers added, and some lost, but the general information will give you a better understanding of their system. If you can find a copy of Caterpillar's "Performance Handbook", it has huge amounts of information on former models of many types of equipment, and you can follow the changes that have happened over the years. Good reading. smoothoperator

The 140G and 14G are entirely different machines. The 140 is quick and nimble like a 12, but delivers considerably more breakout force. Components are much larger. It is really a terrific combination of agility and power. The 14 is a clumsy, clunky roughout grader, crude to the max. But, oh, that SOB will move some material if that is what you need to do. Austin Bridge back in the day used 14's to cut grade to within half-an-inch, then finished to 1/4 with twelves. The quarter-inch men wouldn't even start their engines until the grade was within a half inch of finish. Try telling that to one of these just-hatched GPS SUPERSTARS.

Hahahaha top stuff I'll give you that one brother. :drinkup I refuse to drive M's sorry but I don't like them at all..BTW 14H seres II is quite capable of final trim right down to finish. We had some nice tractors on a job I did 3 years ago. Yes there a bit on the bulky side but for freeway work they did well. The one in my avatar was a little gem. Left the bloke on the next section on his brand new 14M for dead. But hey thats were experience comes in now don't it. lol cheers.
