my 1845c has started to eat fuses the 30a that keeps everything going. It seems to happen if you try to turn the key too fast! and has been worse with the cold over the last few days.Ive also noticed that when turning the key it sometimes feels difficult to find the contact point (for want of a better word) Any one else ever had this problem or has anyone got some good pointers on where to find this fault? Thankyou
You may have already found it yourself Switch contacts falling apart inside, all kind of weird things happen. If a live contact in the switch shorts to ground--boom! Blown fuse. Check your switch by removing it and checking for even momentary continuity between any of the contacts and the metal switch body in all key positions. Or just put a new one in, sounds to me like that's what it is.
light Take a look at the hot terminal on the back of the head light switch. If it is not the "case" switch it may be hitting to ground....
I ve ordered a new switch then will have another go,all the wires to the lights have been disconnected.
My $.20 is it's the switch, plastic around the contacts seems to get brittle and fall apart. Already replaced it on one 1845C, and seeing evidence of needing to do it on a second. Off topic, but I don't have access to start a new thread... I have an 1845C that I just replaced the panel that houses the fuel level etc. Everything is good except the charge pressure light, and the other machine doesn't have a charge pressure light at all. I have 4 plugs dangling down by the drive pumps, I suspect that two (single wire) go to the (removed by a previous owner) lap bar and seat belt. The third is a white wire that looks cut and has wiring harness "armor" around it, and the fourth is a male/female with red wires. I'm guessing one needs to be hooked up to the pressure sensor at the hydraulic filter in the back, but none come close to reaching that far. Any advice out there? The buzzer is driving me nuts!
Changed the switch and it fired straight away, then whilst having a play i pulled the lights switch(god knows why because i pulled off all the wires going to the lights) then 10 minutes later i stopped the machine when i went back to start it bang another fuse gone! In the rain i took off the cover again and took off the block on the light switch and it started and as of today seems ok,but we seem to have deleloped another fault the battery light seems to come on after a few minutes and stays on! Need to check the charging but other than that anyone have any ideas? This has all started after a few hard frosts -10 (not unknown especially to you lads across the pond )and changing the diesel filter because it was frozen up a little. :Banghead
Is that exactly the same each time you've started it since, or is the buzzer going as soon as you turn the ignition on? If you replace the plug on the back of the switch do you, A) blow a fuse ? B) cure the buzzer ? I suspect that the two are probably linked some where/how.
started and ran well today with no battery light on.the buzzer works when you turn it on as normal i guess then goes off after 30 seconds.
