1845c wont go

lost in france · 2013-01-19 01:57

Got a problem and need some help, was using the machine the other day loading cow muck and whilst giving the bucket a shake as you do (tipping into a high sided trailer) the lights went out and the transmission lock came on.I managed with a few revs to get it out of the way but thats as far as its gone.I guess its an electrical problem,is it connected to the lights going out or is that another problem?I fancy the fuel level guage isnt working as well as it was reading full whilst using it(but i cant remeber the last time i filled it up!!) The machine is about 95 I bought it 5 yrs ago and up to know has done every thing I have needed it for.It is a uk machine if that makes a difference. I will take the seat out and have a look for any obvious lose wires under neath but failing that can any one give me a few pointers . Thankyou

Under the seat sounds like a good place to start ….. when you were shaking the machine there's probably a good chance the battery cables were loose, maybe causing the fuel pump solenoid to think it was to shut off with no power to keep it open ….. but you'll find out as soon as the seat is up, the 1845/1840 machines were a very basic machine (electrically) making them one of the most reliable machines ever built ….. the tranny lock is a mechanical function controlled by the joy stick handles, it's a cable that runs down to the chain cases on both sides pulling or releasing a lock pin in each one …. no relation to the electrical thing. Good-luck ! … let us know what you find …. cheers

Problem solved !!!! after entering that dark place under the seat and having a good look around with the flash light,i found a loose wire down near the left hand drive motor. This had undone itself from a connector near to the air filter,i also found a blown fuse in the same area.Connector together and fuse changed, fingers crossed and away we went.Fuel gauge still lit as full so need to have look at this but at least we are going again. A simple repair but its nice to have a place like this just to air a problem (yes sometimes you can get good advice from a dealer but other times they would rather give you a visit £££$$$$)
