Got a d4 7u last month, had a new temp gauge on it the biddle never moves even after running for a while is this normal or wrong gauge.
It is not uncommon to find these where someone removed the t-stat instead of fixing the real problem. Dirty radiator, clogged cores, etc. It is the wrong thing to do. The engine should be used at the correct tempurature. If your weather is cool and the D4 is not working hard it may not register. Or you could have a non working gauge. A temputature gun would tell the story.
Thanks. Thermostat is in only used dozer 1or2 hrs a week maybe that's why not movering, motor is just warm to the touch.
Kind of sounds like the t'stat maybe be stuck open.
As OIH pointed out the best way is to get hold of an infra-red thermometer and start shooting temperatures of the cooling system. that will give you an idea of what's going on. Maybe the temperature gauge is good and for some reason (e.g. a stuck thermostat) the engine's not getting hot..?
Going to check t sat to see if is stuck open. Thanks
