Hey Gentleman, i am a total newby with tractors and just bought a early 70's Case ck. It has the bucket and a 3 point hitch on it with a custom small backhoe. Checked the 2 dip stick plugs today, both in the drivers seat area, one was very low and the other more rear one was overfilled and milky. Gonna drain both and refill. Question is what kind of oil and is there any filters to do? Also what kind of engine oil does this beast take. Thanks in advance
The torque tube where the forward and reverse shuttle is takes hy-tran or a good hyd. oil, the transaxle takes gear oil like 90 weight or 85/140. The shuttle dipstick is in front of the four speed shifter lower right corner of cover plate, the transaxle dipstick is under the operator seat.
Oil transfer was an issue with tractors equipped with internal piston and rockshaft type 3 points, piston seals can get scored by debris thrown around by the oil, If the 3 point leaks down suspect the seals on the rockshaft.
Awesome thanks for the help.
And am I right in assuming the torque tube has two drain plugs underneath? Looks like there is a total of 3 drain plugs one in the rear of the machine other than 2 near the front.
Yes you are correct in the number and location of drain plugs.
