The default speed is low range. The simplest fault would be a bad console switch or a poor electrical connection. If you can access the speed control switch, you can check the switch function by putting a jumper wire across it. If that does not help, follow the wires and try resetting terminal plugs, or visually look for places where the wires could be broken inside the insulation. A bad switch will typically work part time, just like you describe.
Welcome to HEF 4bz ! Southernman, Try the jumper like 4 said. The propel speed switch supplies a ground to the controller when in high speed. The switch is open in low speed. There are about six pressure sensors on the machine that all play a part in the operation of the two speed system. If your 2 speed switch is good, then access to software (MPDr or DR ZX) to troubleshoot would save time and money.
