2014 CAT 420F IT BACKHOE . NEED HELP ON TRANSMISSION. ITS A 4 SPEED TRANSMISSION, ALL GEARS WORK WHEN MANUALLY SHIFTING, EXCEPT 3RD GEAR. 3RD GEAR WILL NOT WORK AT ALL WITH AUTOSHIFT OR MANUALLY. THE AUTO SHIFT IS ALSO NOT SHIFTING AUTOMATICALLY , BUT WILL WORK WHEN YOU MANUALLY SELECT THE GEAR ON THE SHIFTER. REVERSE IS SEEMS TO BE WORKING IN ALL GEARS EXCEPT FOR THAT 3RD GEAR. MACHINE HAS 2840 HOURS. ANY HELP, ADVISE, SOLUTIONS WOULD BE VERY APPRECIATED.

Get into the Monitor System and look for Active Diagnostic Codes, there will be an "X" alongside anything that's Active. The attachment tells you how. If there are none then go to the next step. Change the transmission filter, it's on the LH side of the machine. Cut open the old one and squeeze a section of the filter media in a vice, then look for particles in the bottom of the pleats.
