Paid Cat 4800 dollars to have the DPF System replaced run good for about 18 hours parked it for about a week in my garage now when I start it up it idles for about 15 seconds and shuts off and the orange circle with the diamond light comes on anyone know how i can get it to run at least long enough to load it on my trailer to take it to the dealer or what may be causing the problem
when it shuts off the triangle light with the exclamation comes on and flashes on and off
Model number? Serial number? Who told you to replace DPF?
Sounds like an Operation & Maintenance Manual ought to be on your shopping list. You can download one from Cat for $50, probably the best $50 you’ll ever spend. YMMV.

i order the manual cost me 130 dollars plus shipping and still no help I crank it up it runs about 15-20 seconds and cuts off and the amber light with the triangle and exclamation mark flashes, book does not giive me a clue of what it may be it is a Cat 226D skid steer SN HRD00606 any clues what it may be I have cleaned and changed the air filters and fuel filters HELP
Cat 226D SN HRD00606 took it to cat dealer this morning pulled code 168-3 battery potential/ power input #1: voltage above normal anyone know where to start looking for the problem?
The fault-finding procedure is attached. You will need a digital multimeter and a bttery load tester. I'm going to suggest that you do a couple of other things before trying to troubleshoot the Diagnostic Code. 1. Try completely removing the fuel tank cap and start the engine. If it still behaves the same way shutting down after 30 seconds of running then move on to Step 2. 2. This will require two people. Open the engine compartment door and keep a close eye on the electric fuel transfer pump #13 that is located right next to the fuel filter. Have someone turn on the key but DO NOT start the engine. You should be able to hear that pump start up and run. Let us know what you find.
it was the alternator putting out 16 volts
So apparently it was the high voltage that was shutting the engine off.? That's a new one..........worth remembering for the future.
i wouldn't doubt that was the problem that i paid them 4800 dollars to replace the DPF system the code then said high voltage to the accelerator and a couple other high voltage codes, i found out the it cuts off its a safety feature to keep from frying the ECM
Sounds alot like my problem with my sr160 , I'm getting ecu high voltage error code also ,my battery was bad but still getting code , my alternator putting out 14 volts for the 15 seconds the machine does run .
Couldn't you disconnect the big red wire from the alternator and retry?
