We have a doosman front end loader at work that went dead. The way we normally jump them is using 24v whitaka cables hooked up to another front end loader, however the cables went missing. The batteries are pretty far apart; they are 2 12 volt batteries wired in series. They are on opposite sides of the machine. I do recall one of our mechanics hooking up a 24v charger to 1 side of the machine. If i am not mistaking, he took the negative lead from the charger and hooked up to a good ground spot on the machine than took the positive lead and hooked onto the positive side of the same battery. I think the positive side of the battery post he hooked onto was the one that connects to the negative post of the other battery. I was going to attempt to do this but didnt want to fry anything as i was not exactly sure if this is how he did it. Can anyone help me? How do you charge both batteries at once when they are far apart from eachother and the wires cant reach
If you have a 24V charger, hook the positive on at the starter, the negative to the ground lug on the starter or a good chassis ground. 12V charger, just hook to one battery at a time like you would any 12V battery, just make sure you don't arc anything to ground.
