the machine keeps acting like its running out of fuel at about 1/2 tank. when it acts up i can only put 11 gal of fuel in it till filled up. already changed all the filters, still does it. im thinking the problem is in the tank, would that be a good place to start looking or any help would be great

Have you tried removing the tank cap, even temporarily, to see if that helps..? Once the tank cap is eliminated as a possible cause, you're into the fuel lines. A Serial Number gets you an illustrated diagram showing what they are and where they go.....

Check the fuel pickup tube, in the tank, bottom end might be cracked, or among the missing...

i have already tried a new fuel cap and removing the cap while operating, no luck. i was hoping not to have to try to locate the pickup tube but thats what i was thinking. is there any good repair manuals to buy for this machine, i plan on doing most my own work unless its something big

if cat is any thing like bobcat the plastic tube that hangs in the top of the tank is likely deteriorated and broken in half they are not real hard to replace once you find them

Again, post a Serial Number and help may well be forthcoming............

First thing I can say is that your machine has the 349-5327 newer style of fuel transfer pump, fitted from TNK00608-Up. Doesn't mean that might not be a problem, just less of a likelihood. For a Service Manual, be on the lookout (eBay, Craigslist, etc) for Cat document reference UENR0245. Be advised, it's not cheap. A new one will set you back around $650. However it will never lose its value and if you ever sell the machine you can always put it on eBay and get your money back. Keep in mind that $650 is probably 4-5 billed hours for a dealer mechanic, so the manual could pretty well pay for itself the first time you use it......... One other note. The Service Manual is NOT a Parts Manual. That would be a different document SEBP5923 priced at $90.
