Was runing good , yesterday i have changed the oïl and filter did not overfill i have start the ingine and put the cat on the trailer every thing was ok and this morning i had these problems when started it and it also smokes from the exaust , it still starts good and runs ok but i am not using it or starting it till y wont have found the problem. I know you said you didn't overfill it with oil but have you gone back and checked again since it started smoking..? It seems too much of a coincidence that the problem started right after you serviced it. The other thing I would be checking is to pull off the air intake hose to the turbo and see if you can detect any play in the bearings, or if you can see any signs of the compressor wheel rubbing on the housing. If you increase the engine RPM does the pressure you see at the oil filler cap also increase..? Another thought - when was the valve lash last set..?

Engine breather? what kind of an engine breather does this engine have? Any chance you messed it up, or bent, or kinked something?

If you fill the engine oil too quickly, you can flood the rocker box and put oil into the breather. If you think this is what you've done, it should clear up by itself.

Nige Can you tell me technicaly why if i see any play in the bearings, or if you can see any signs of the compressor wheel rubbing on the housing it would have pressure in the oïl filler and dip stick And yes if i increase RPM the pressure increase in the oïl filler cap. Thanks

    The ingine is a perkins 3024C 2004

If the seals in the turbo are leaking, then exhaust or boost pressure can leak into the center section of the turbo and then into the crankcase of the engine, by way of the oil return hose on the bottom of the turbo.

Nobody mentioned the head gaskets. Known issue on those issues. Happened to mine. If you haven't done the head gasket update on yours, now's your chance. Ken

It seemed a little fishy to me that immediately after changing the oil the problem surfaced. That's why I think CM could be on the right track about overfilling the valve cover by trying to put the oil in too fast and oil passing into the breather.

Here is what i read on another tread… """blow head gasket, venting combustion chamber pressure into the pushrod gallery I believe. For sure the pressure was going into the crankcase, and venting out the crankcase vent, or oil fill cap""" I am going to the Cat dealer tomorrow to run a few diagnosis. - Run normal - Black and blue smoke coming out of the exhaust - oil Blowing to the Turbo, dip stick - Filler cap dancing once unscrew I already open the Valve cover to see if there was anything wrong…. Breather all the way clean Cat will run the compression test / oil pressure / blow by / turbo I will let you know

Sounds even more like a turbo problem now that you say black and blue smoke out exhaust.

Finaly Everything is ok Oil pressure , turbo , pressure , head gasket , no exedent oïl in the valve cover , everything was fine ,but was still smoking , so the guy at the cat dealer took it out side and beat the S%?& out of it in a sand pit for 5 min and every thing came back to normal i have use oïl with detergent and he told me next time use non detergent oïl or Caterpilar oïl .Anyways thats what i 'LL do next time and glad to kno that my ingine is in verry good shape so i'm back to work . Thanks guy for all the hints

Andyman did the cat dealer think it was anything specific that caused the blow by? Or just the non detergent oil? I've been using delvac 1300 15W-40

This hapenned because i have used Detergent oïl and he told me to use NON DETERGENT oïl or caterpilar oïl next time He told me that the ingine got washed by detergent thats why he have beat the !"/%?&* out the machine to get it heat a bit and to burn out the muddy stuff on the rings .The machine is running good since that time and never had any problem at all.
