I used the search function. E391-1 is "Inlet Air Restriction" - Activates when the engine has run for > 1 minute and the N/O air cleaner indicator switch closes. Deactivates when the N/O air filter switch returns to the open state (with engine running). Specification for the air cleaner indicator switch to close is 7.5 kPa (1.09 psi) or 30.11 inches of H2O. - Spec tolerance is ± 5% at 23° C (73° F). The engine indicator located on the left side instrument cluster turns amber. · Check the engine air cleaner inlet and ducting. Ensure that the passageway is not blocked or collapsed. · Inspect the engine air cleaner element. Replace if needed. In other words, take care of your equipment, sounds like the filter is clogged.

With engine running, how long will it take for the alert to cancel itself out, roughly speaking. Also, will parking brake red light stay on till the amber alert goes off. (pushing release does nothing while amber is on)

You're replying to a thread that is 8 years old. The only answer you get may be crickets. Try starting from the beginning. What model machine do you have, Serial Number, etc, etc, and what exactly is it doing or not doing as the case may be.?

Hi, thank you for responding. I replaced inner and outer filters and light stayed on. Upon re-reading your answer to the old thread last night, I realized you need to leave the engine running and the alert will self cancel. I went back to the machine and did same and it canceled. Sorry for not including the model, SN etc.. Leaving for appointment.

2012 Cat 289c2 SN RTD00777 Alert light for air intake came on after starting a week after having been caught in a downpour. Replaced both filters that were 18 months old( 25 hours) light went off. Started next day and light came on. Cleaned intake line back to the arm box that had accumulated dirt and grease. Started and light went off. Went back to use later and light on again. Stopped engine and started and light went off so went to work. Light came on while I was working and stopped moving. Turned engine off and back on and light went off. Headed back to shop and light came on and machine abruptly stopped. Can you advise? Thank you, Joe
