hi all, i have a 304CR and two weeks ago i just lost ALL hydraulics. any help is appreciated.
Serial number ?
Any oil in the reservoir? Any wet spots to start looking for leaks?
pump coupler
Maybe check the fuses and the electrical switch in the arm rest.
NAD01155
no leaks
can this be tested?
checked the fuses, they are good
thanks all, when we were working on it yesterday, we found the relays were acting up, ( going off) so gonna change them today, ( if i find them) need a part number, this is why i am looking for a parts manual. the relays are the two right behind the battery.
Try here...... $89 for a downloadable Adobe pdf document. Publication reference for NAD-prefix machine appears to be SEBP3674. An Operation & Maintenance Manual is $46 - ref SEBU7677 https://catpublications.com/Search
I second the coupler suggestion. Loosen the delivery line from the pilot pump (the outermost pump) and crank the engine. No flow means coupling failure (probably). I've changed several.
thanks will check this today, NAD01155
serial number, NAD01155
it was the coupling, how does this go out? wear and tear?
Basically it's a fuse to stop things that are more expensive getting torn up. Did you manage to get hold of the manuals you were looking for..?
yes i got myself a manual, thanks. another question. where can i find a seal kit for my stick? been searching all morning. part number, 2171643
and what is the difference between 2171643 and CTC2171643?
I guess it depends where you're buying them from. 217-1643 is the complete Cat Part Number. Is CTC a seal kit supplier..? Try breaking the seal kit down to individual seal Part Numbers..........the breakdown of the kit is below with the exception of the piston.
I know this is an old thread, does any one have insight as to the likelihood of the coupler breaking with out any issues with the pump? We broke down in a remote area and are thinking about potentials. And hoping for lower $! cheers thanks
if you have lost hydraulics, pull your starter and if you see black reside or chunks then your coupler is bad. changing the coupler is the cheapest, you can get one for under 50.00. easy to change not easy to get too, gotta remove the muffler and move the main pump, make sure you have the size 10 hex, dont attempt it if you dont. if you have the right tools it can be done in 2 hours. always a good idea to keep these in your inventory or your machine will be down until you get a new one. i found out the hard way.
thks alot, pretty sure the coupler is bad, sean said he could smell burning rubber. can we do this without pulling the counterweight?
