310A Hydraulic filter gasket leaking… agian!

I am having trouble keeping the Hydraulic filter gaskets from leaking. seems like the rubber gets pinched and leaks. I cleaned and checked the surface areas and they look good, thought of using a o-ring instead of square cut gasket. I tried using a grease to hold it in place so not to have it flop around. anybody have any good ideas/practices when replacing filters and gaskets? just one more folks, is the hydraulic pickup screen in the transmission? Thanks

Seems like the Pressure control valve has O rings leaking, parts on order. Was told the PCV leaking and filter might be do to a over pressure issue. Going to do a system PSI pressure check. Pump looks like a rebuild and hydraulics were are strong, learning on the fly!

Correction LOL!! Pump looks like a rebuild and hydraulics are strong, learning on the fly!

Do you mean the stroke control valve on the hydraulic pump, or the pressure relief valve on the filter is leaking? If there is a pressure control valve, where is it? Are the hydraulics smooth, or is there any jerkiness?

Hey Delmer, the PCV we are suspecting is on the transmission and not the filter. The system operation was smooth, we changed filters and fluids. Steam cleaned the unit after we noticed a leak around the filter housing on the transmission hydraulic filter. Any help would be appreciated, thanks

Gotcha. The PCV valve and the other two relief valves next to it control the transmission pressure, which affects the charge pressure to the hydraulic pump, which is the same pressure that the hydraulic filter outlet sees. So you're going to check the transmission pressure? that makes sense. Maybe the hydraulic filter return pressure also? The hydraulic system pressure shouldn't affect the filter, it is on the return side, but air can cause jerkiness and pressure spikes. I don't know this model (so take ALL of this with a grain of salt) but the screen is probably under a large (1 1/2") hex plug somewhere on a side close to the bottom.

Delmer- spot on, I am not 100% on all of troubleshooting procedures. still have to get a manual for this one. I still have to get to the screen tomorrow and see what evil is in the transmission.

If you're draining it, why not pull out the three valves and check for obvious junk, broken/bent springs, or binding spools.
