A friend of mine told me were a 1980 310A jd back hoe clean no dents pins tight paint in great condition, has been setting for around three years in a shed, decided to go see it talked with the owner, the had bought it to use on farm and did for a while then started to use oil, had it over hauled and when they tried to use it would blow the dip stick outof the engine, they got tired of it and parked it in the shed, when i went to see it can turn engine over, just wonder what you guys thought would cause that, i bought it cheap enough to triple my money by parting it out thanks

Too much crankcase pressure or not a big enough padlock on the dipstick Blocked blowby tube? Maybe they forgot to put the rings in it??? Head gasket? Rings just not seated yet? Hard to say not knowing anything about the rebuild.

too high crankcase pressure for sure...but the motor needs attention. First thought is improper boring/wrong piston/wrong rings. I would pull the head and pan and take a look. Howard

Firstly I would make sure the breather tube isnt pinched or blocked off in some other way I believe there is a specification regarding crankcase pressure but usually running without the oil filler cap is a pretty good indicator Always suspect of "rebuilt" engines especially if the rebuilder is not known to me
