anyone got a good way to remove the heater motor ? looks like it is the first thing in the cab then everything else piled on top of it
if its in the same spot as the 420D then you can expect it to take a long while...easily 4-8hrs to re and re depending on if you run into any trouble with the disassemble/assembly of the cab. If I remember correctly from doing it on the 420D I would think the 430 wouldn't be much different. 1) removed 2 metal strips at doors and then remove entire floor mat. 2) if tons of dirt or glass on floor vacuum up 3) remove entire seat assembly (4 bolts) and slide to far left side of cab (disconnect electrical connector that run to the seat for the air suspension feature) 4) remove the throttle black knob and then remove the 6 bolts that hold the cover on, 5) remove the 6 bolts that hold the upper black dash in place 6) remove the 2 bolts holding the barking brake cover in place, 7) on the floor remove the bolts that are holding the plastic housing in place that holds the dash together...once bolts removed from floor then slight tug at it to get it loose, might have the put down pressure on it at the back near the windows to get it the unclip. feed the two dash pieces through the housing as you remove it....they can be a tight fit but they will move through. 8) remove the bolts on the floor holding the heater box housing to the floor (bolts i believe are underneath the air filter) 9) remove the cover beside the left stabilizer control arm in the cab (5 clips) reach in this hole and loosen the clamp that connects the hose to the heating duct line. 10) slowly pull the box forward and disconnect the electrical from the back of it 11) remove the 2 or 3 clips and/or bolts that hold the box together remove the top lid and there will be the blower motor, and the the side of it is the resistors... 12) swap blow motors and once installed in lower half, make sure that its in properly (lined up) and make sure that the fan rotates and doesn't get stuck...while you are this far for the $30 or so it costs replace the resistor now as your gonna have to do all this again if that goes later on. 13) with the top cover reinstalled and clips/bolts in place hook up a 12V source to the fan motor and ensure it spins and doesn't get stuck or make any unusual noise. if it does then disassemble again and correct the problem, if all is good then install in the same order that you disassembled the cab. Hope that helps...
yea that is what i expected the first thing put in the cab and all else piled on top of it . thanks a bunch for the info. sounds like a pencil is rubbing the squirrel cage.the thing is still under warranty but if they find something like that we will be liable for 6 or 8 hrs of cat service time$$$$$$.
if you can try to back blow the system with air nasty stuff can get in there.don,t ask me how..on case machine there in the over head canopy.takes about 1 hour and 6 beer to change lol
I took my blower out today on my 2012 420E. about 3300hrs and it started making sounds. approx 430.00cad + tax it came with the squirrel cage. I looked around but nobody could get one like it or at the least there was risk to it if I order the wrong one. This is what I can remember of what I did. -take rubber floor out, I vacuumed it too -removed 4 bolts on seat and unplug wires -removed rear vent tower beside the counsel to get access to the bolts holding the plastic that surrounds counsel (do this tower first and there is a bolt in the top vent holding the top to the frame, do this first so that you are done with the back area) remove back plastic of counsel for the throttle and stabilizer controls. -take the seat and turn it around and it fits great in between the joystick controls, makes lots of room. -remove the top portion of the plastic around the loader control (if i remember this is held by clips) then remove the lower portion(held with bolts along the bottom and top. -Remove the front portion of the plastic around the counsel. I took the cig light off(mark red wire terminal and or black so it doesn't get reversed. -Remove the top(instrument panel) counsel (bolts on either side and back) flip this over or get access to the heater control wire. Remove the heater control wire then you can flip the top over to the left side and get it out of the way. -this gives you complete access to the top of the heater assembly, remove clips all around the encasement and 4 bolts around the motor and one bolt holding down the encasement. The top should come off and there is your motor. unplug it and replace with new motor. -Put it all back together.
Marking this, as my blower motor started making a weird noise today and actually locked up in high.
