450 case dozer won’t move in reverse

Works fine in forward and in fact sometimes will go forward in neutral or reverse but eventually it will come out of gear and quit pulling (when in neutral or reverse) fluid if fine all the spools move freely. Any ideas ? thank you

Welcome to HEF kenstruks! What you are describing is a classic symptom of a broken clutch disc, locking up drive in FWD. First place to look is the transmission suction screen & check for debris......

I would do the suction screen also as alrman said and see if between the strainer and filter how much trash is in it. Also you said the linkage is free but is it worn? pins and clevis ends. Are you feeling a positive detent when going F/N/R also on the movement of the lever when your having the issues. I would agree a broken clutch disc would also cause this to happen along with some bad seal rings in the end caps. To go internal into the trans you would need to remove the trans/final assembly. It's not a bad job but you should round up a service and parts book if you are thinking of doing it yourself. What is your serial/number and is it a straight 450.
