I have a 544d jd loader. High speed lacks power, low speed seems to be OK. Oil level is good, how do I trouble shoot problem, and what are some possible problems and cost to fix?
Check the throttle pedal linkage-- Have someone hold the pedal to the floor and look at the linkage at the injection pump. The pedal should put the injection pump throttle lever to the high speed stop or slightly beyond. A couple hundred low on the max. RPM will make a big difference in high range performance on those transmissions.
