I just replaced all the springs in both clutch hubs and am curious as to what they actually do.Do they release the clutches or help keeping pressure on the clutches i just dont know and i would like to know for sure what they do.All of mine were broke into pcs.

Is there an apply piston with a rubber lip seal that is pushing on the clutch pack? If so, that is what applies the clutch and your springs are pushing it apart.

El Hombre Well im not sure what they are doing but there is a piston that puts pressure on the clutches and if im thinking right it is like you are saying they help disengage the clutches but im not sure if thats how it works or not thats why i am looking for some verification as to what they do exactly.

Those are the release springs; the apply piston might exert 1500-2000 pounds of pressure on the clutch pack. No way are those little springs coming anywhere near that. I've got motorcycle clutches that have 6 springs that apply the clutch; but it weighs 250 pounds and only make 30 pounds of torque. Your hoe is going to be multiple times more in weight and torque.

I agree i have dealt with the springs on a motorcycle clutch years ago i know what your talking about as they apply the pressure but in this case i also think they are used to release the clutches and i know these clutches are engaged by hyd pressure about 180psi the best i can tell.
