The seal between the base plate and head may have started leaking. When removing the filters sometimes the base plate can move causing a small or big leak. Remove the large filter, remove the small filter and the center seal gasket, use a 16mm wrench to tighten the nut on the threaded stud that holds the small filter. I would order the two seals before trying to tighten the nut due to the age of the machine, do not loosen to inspect because they are more than likely swelled and will not go back in the grove. The seals will have to come from case or cummins. I am not saying this is your issue but a heads up to this area. Lube the filter gasket during install, turn to snug, half turn to tight, loosen filter, snug filter, then half to three fourths tight. What brand filter are you using.

I pulled up those seals, the large is about 70 mm, it's real thin p/n J906694 and the small one on the threaded stud is J906695.
