580k phase 3 diff lock

Hey everybody, just got done replacing the seals on the side shift brakes and went out to test the machine clearing some land. the good news is that the side shift works perfect with no leaks now, but i was using the diff lock for the first time ever on the machine since we owned it and it worked for about 4 meters and then just dropped away (pedal now has no resistance when depressed) any ideas what this could be? is it stuck? will get under the hoe tomarrow and see whats up, just wondering what i should look out for...

Our farm tractors do that when the diff lock is stuck. When this happens hit one brake pedal momentarily and it should release. If not try hitting the other brake pedal. Hope that's all it is.

The pedal stretches a spring under the floor plate in front of the seat. If you're lucky, it's a broken spring

Just to clarify you'll be hitting the brakes while moving, preferably while under power. If this is the problem you'll have to hit the brake pretty hard, but only momentarily.

thanks for the tips guys, i verified that the linkage is still connected to the spring but it seems like its not actuating anything (just stretching the spring). i also tried the brake trick but it doesnt seem to free anything up. i did notice that if i unlock the brakes and try to "brake steer" but this doesnt seem to work (the machine has a hard time spinning the free wheel) which leads me to believe that it is infact stuck. thing is that it turns just fine and my father noticed that only one rear wheel would spin when driving into the manure pile, dont know what to think, its not like i need it all the time just worried if somethings possible broken and susceptible to causing more damage...

You will need to pull the floor panel up and follow the linkage to the rear, there should be a L shaped arm that goes into the houseing, it has two springs also i think. I would see if that L shaft moves freely, with a helper turning the wheels (wheels of the ground) you should be able to slide the diff in and out of the lockup. That shaft has a fork held in place by a roll pin that slides the coupler to engage the diff lock. I would kinda think it is frozen up, then we can go from there after you have a chance to check it.
