6 Lug Budds to replace 20″ split rings

danielm ยท 2011-01-25 11:42

Local tire shop tells me he wasn't familiar with anything that would replace the split ring 20" wheels on out old ranch 2 ton '80 F600. 20" tube type tires are geeting hard to find and no one around here will mount them. I heard of folks replacing them with 22.5 tubeless but I cannot find a six lug wheel that fits. Was it ever made? What the heck should I look for that they were mounted to?

Find a truck tire dealer or truck parts distributor and tell them you need an accuride part#28157. New ones are expensive as heck, ($250??!!),while 10 hole budds are about $100. You can replace them one or two at a time as you need tires by swapping things around, just make sure you don't put a radial beside a bias in a set of duals. Shop around, you may be shocked by the difference in price from one dealer to another. I use Carolina Rim and Wheel in North Charleston SC (800-832-9001), but you can probably find someone closer, and save on shipping. As far as used, I don't think they were used much at all on any thing besides medium duty fords, but they are out there. As an afterthought, you should be able to find a new hub for your truck to take 10 hole rims, those rims are a dime a dozen used.

Thanks, I may look into the 10 hole swap. Tire shop here said the same about those wheels being very common. Tough time finding any med duty truck salvage yards around here. It seems they all get scrapped now the price of metal is up.

6 hole 22.5 wheels 6 hole 19.5 6 inch wheel or 6 hole 8 inch 225 wheel. Remember all thoes u haul f 600 ford now in every junkyard in the usa. Well they all had 6 hole 19.5 or 22.5 wheels on them later fords with 6 hole also and the international 6 hole is same size i beleve around a 7 inch bolt pattern. I been looking for a set of aluminum wheels 6 bolt 22.5 but gave it up no one makes them any more. Lots of motor homes chassi also had the same wheel in a 19.5 but 19.5 are very skinny tires. The 22.5 is wider i got 6 new tires mounting on 6 hole 20 inch on my truck now. Bottm line is there are lots of chassi and school bus and trucks that use the ford 6 lug wheel there asre six of them on ebay in newy your but the guy want 600.00 bucks for them junk yards priced them to me at 30.00 bucks each for 19.5 but i do not want i want 22.5
