873 Bobcat overheating

Moaks ยท 2014-07-26 11:46

Hey guys. Very new to this. My Bobcat runs for about 15 minutes and gets very hot to the point of shutdown. Can you tell me where to start troubleshooting?

Possibly a plug rad? Or poor circulation from block to rad? Try hosing out the radiator, be carefull not to fold the fins over if using to high a pressure on a pressure washer. You should if possible clean a radiator from from the oposite side as the air intake. Just my 2cents worth.

Start by checking to see if the exterior of the rad is dirty; then use air or water to clean the cooling fins. Also, is the system full of coolant? Does it have a thermostat, and is it working properly? If those simple things do not fix the problem, you need to dig deeper.

What engine is in this machine? The Deutz does not have "coolant". They are oil cooled.

Oil cooled? That certainly changes things. Is that the same or similar to air cooled, with no radiator?

873 has an oil cooled duetz engine. cooling fan is driven off the wheelwheel side of the engine via a belt and angle drive. check to see if the belt is still on the pulleys. typically the tensioner arm pivot gets corroded and sticks with no tension on the belt. to access the "radiator" raise the grill, lift and support the hyd oil cooler, the engine oil cooler is directly under it. :drinkup
