If the track adjuster is collapsing it does. Later Bob

Your adjuster appears to be leaking at the large o ring and nylon o ring at the point where the adjuster barrel bolts up to the front idler ram. If those two o rings are leaking you can bet that the piston seals are rotten also. All of the needed parts are included in the repair kit. I just posted the repair procedure for that track adjuster on my thread, Cat 951 in my sights , it is on page 41 of the thread.

Did you make sure both of those valves are tight? Not gut busting tight, but good and solid? Does look like a seal let go....

Yes the valves are tight and the track adjuster is collapsing so It must need seals. Thanks and I will check out your thread nitelits.

A new seal or the extension shaft might have a bad surface. Later Bob

Where to get the kit? Genuine Cat or aftermarket? Thanks, Donald

Nitelite get his parts from an outfit called Offroad Equipment - www.offroadeq.com You could try them first or maybe drop him a PM.

Nige is steering you in the right direction for your seal kit. I am thinking that I paid less than $25.00 per side. Might as well order two, one for the other side too. Freight is about the same for one or two. Most probably the same kit # as mine. Give them your model# and serial # and they will look it up for you. It is not a bad job and you can expect that the repair of the second side to go about twice as fast as the first side. The four bolts are 15/16" and you can expect to use a 5' cheater on the wrench. I also used just a little heat, but not too much as it is full of grease in there. Open the valve first and you can also remove the grease fitting but open the relief valve to relieve the pressure first.
