Got a 955H that wont crank sr #60A799. Went to turn her over and Battery sparked and blew off part of terminal. Not sure if bad starter or possible Hydro lock or seize? Had not noticed any problems. Any Idea of where to start? Thaks for any help....
Bad connection on battery 24 V will burn off a post if it arches replace bat unless there is enough post left replace cable end not with the auto parts bolt on ones get a equipment or truck to crimp a new one on
Turn the motor over by hand if you're suspicious. You should be able to turn it a tiny bit at a time if you can reach the fan and belt with both hands.
Thanks .. I will investigate this weekend and let everyone know. My son was running machine at the time so haven't got a completely clear picture yet. At least when he shut her down it is in a clear level easier access spot....
Yes burnt batt terminals are 99% are caused by poor connections! Those cable ends that fasten to the cable with the two 1/4 inch bolts are the worst! We had some luck on repairing the terminals on batteries with the molds that you can use to form new ones but takes a good bit of care to do it without damaging the battery. And don't try it if the battery was just been charged or you will have a hydrogen explosion, think of the pictures of the Hindenburg!
