955L governor control

Footloose · 2026-03-14 10:42

My 955L the throttle doesn't seem to work well, on the horizontal shaft behind the engine there seems to be a coupler that is slipping. I can't find anything in my service manuals, is the adjustable? Any more details would be helpful.

There are a number of different fuel systems used on machine engines of that era. How about a machine Serial Number and/or maybe some photos of what you're looking at.? Crystal balls are currently in short supply.

serial #57M0930, attached is picture of this part, it is connected to the horizontal shaft of governor control. When the lever by the seat moves only 1/2 of this coupling moves, the 1/2 connected to the fuel injection pump does not move. Is it adjustable or does it need to be replaced? I am waiting on a parts catalog and my service manual does seem to say anything about it.

I'm going to start with that. You have a Japanese-built 955L, dating from right at the end of December 1979, fitted with a direct-injection 3304 engine. The appropriate Parts Manual for the machine is Cat Publication reference XMBP9584. They are often hard to find, although still available from Cat, but here's a link to a used one on eBay The Service Manualis Cat Publication reference SENR7672. Again somewhat hard to find but still available new if all else fails.

Regarding the governor control adjustments the attachments should help you get started. I'm sure someone will be along shortly to give you better direction as to the problem and the solution.
