operator complains that machine regen's every two hours, hooked up et an there are no codes, dpf soot load was at 40%, machine did a regen soot load dropped to 0 and estimated time until next regen was 30 hours. they needed the machine so gave it back to operator, got a phone call that it was regening again 2 hours later, and di the same thing the next day. not sure where to start, dpf filter was changed a few months ago. serial prefix is kjp
Egr flow will effect the frequency of regeneration, so check your egr differential pressure sensor for blockage. Also check the differential pressure sensor for the dpf for blockage or leaks.
Thanks
Pay close attention to the tubes and hoses on the DPF psi diff'l sensor. I had one with a tiny crack, caused the thing to demand regen almost as quickly as one would finish. If possible, look at your exhaust stream full throttle, full load . See if you got an injector over fueling, check all your air intake piping as well. Make sure you're not losing measured air.
Has the engine been burning engine oil?
it has not been burning engine oil, cat mechanic came out and believes its due to misinstallation of dpf filter when they installed it a few months ago, looks like the gasket was a little messed up and some of the honeycomb was broken around the edges, parts warranty and rework. hopefully that fixes it but im not convinced
Might have been a reman that either didn't get cleaned or is on it's 5th install or coolant contaminated. That's the bad thing, service techs don't properly document why they were serviced, as a result, it's always a crapshoot. Thanks EPA
Why not post the full serial number? It's not uncommon for Cat to have differences in the same prefix.
