988H (BXY01931) with about 62,000hrs. Complaint is that when bucket is in the full dump position, it will not return when commanded. No response from the machine when the joystick is pulled back. Happens about 10X a day. Give it a minute and it comes back to life. Have not been to the unit yet to check it out. Any ideas?
First suggestion would be to check what Diagnostic Codes it has, Active or Logged. Second would be to calibrate all the lift & tilt linkage sensors, the position sensors under the control levers in the cab, and the proportional solenoid valves. For that you will need Cat ET.
What Nige said. First thing I do on those loaders when there is something on the implement side is a full calibration and a PSR. Thank you Nige for telling me about F6 several years ago. I also generally keep a spare set of implement control levers around the shop also. Have changed a lot of them over the years. Does it make any difference if the loader is bouncing around when it starts working again or stationary? Is the operator putting it in detent when this happens or is he trying in various positions on the lever?
