When they wear out one the big ones, ya need good air-arkers and some good re-pins to make em right for sure

Nice ... Line boring is a good job, You can get some really good set's now. Some of the big Dollar set-up's will weld the hole for you. Q: What's the loader arm's resting on?

the problem is the auto bore welders cant weld a hole egg shaped over 3/4 of an inch and its very wind here now and that is a problem itself when mig welding. The arm is on a d 11

Daewoo solar 290 Hi there Steve, great pictures! hope you dont mind me adding a few of mine to? I know what your saying about the bore welders/ mig welders in the open air, they dont like it to well! i most of the time get them in to a work shop, or at least a sheltered area! To be fair i dont very often be working on 992's! but when i need to i sometimes use a canvas cover on a made up ally frame! dont keep you warm but it does block out the wind good! Also your right about them not liking a 3/4" oval, what i do is take a cut out first, having said that 3/4" may need more than one run with the rotatary welder, in a case like that hand welding maybe the best opition!

cps thats a nice looking set up is that your main bread and butter lineboring. i might bore 5 to 15 times a year. i built my machine about 15 years ago it has done well but i thought about building a new one that would bore weld also. what brand is it.

Whenever I think about how long it took the Climax Boring Machine I bought to pay for itself I kick myself in the butt for not building my own.

It's a Sir Meccanica WS2 compact model. Its made in Italy and is not a bad machine, but it did have its teething problems at the start, but hopefully these are all ironed out now! It can bore and weld from 50mm-400mm (2"-16") and it also has a kit to bore down to 22mm or just less than an inch! But i've never used it as it is more set up time than its worth. It can also external weld as well! I would like Line boring to be my bread and butter work but at the minute i'd say its 50/50 between line boring and general servicing and repair work on heavy equipment. But i also think in these times its better not to but all your eggs in one basket! Here its boring a Yanmar B25V, its the smallest i've done so far, but i was quicker to do it in place like this rather than remove it and use a static unit such as a milling machine!
