What don't you like about your pictures? If you think they are not sharp enough you may need to upgrade your camera. Whatever, put on plenty of pics,I will enjoy looking at them.

  2. #2UrParts2013-08-02 02:32

    Looks like a good job

  3. #3dabsfabs2013-08-03 02:52

Some lime on an ardens grab.

  4. #4dabsfabs2013-08-03 02:56

bean counters at this company say its cheaper to do this every year, because of not pay greasing time to the (drivers) as operators cost to much.

  5. #5Richardjw~2013-08-03 14:35

Good pics there Dabs.....and interesting work!

  6. #6kshansen2013-08-03 15:44

A couple Dollars/Euros, what ever, for a few tubes of grease and 1/2 hour a day to use it is to too much? Then you don't charge enough for your line bore work! But don't tell them or they might get smart and then you're out of a job!

  7. #7dabsfabs2013-08-03 17:09

They argument is as they in waste transfer station they can scrape the barrel on the drivers. As they never leave building in most case one spot all day. Health and Safety say they don't need all the cards and in-house is enough. Trouble is Liebherr supplied them with all new waste handlers about 12 to 18 months ago, line boring coved in the maintenance contract which came with the machines. Never mind can only hope will get some of the work back once contract is up. Found out why some picture quality is not very good on some pictures, they were taken on my old blackberry phone,

This is odd ball machine only one i have seen, Mecclec build on 5 ton dumper chassis. Did manage to get one of the bore welding process. And the finished welded, made two passes with weld as bore had about 3 mm ovalality. And the finished bore.

Just a quick question how do delete or remove or move pictures if needed?

  10. #10KWD2013-08-04 19:42

Dabs, what boring bar brand are you using, whats the set up like

  11. #11dabsfabs2013-08-05 02:18

I am using Elsa one of the Italian made made machines. Reason for this is the agent in the UK, was the only one that was prepared to come and demo the that I migth be buying. Set up using the equipment they supply can be a pain but for some jobs you have to use it. I have a set of alignment cones made which take me from 42 mm up to 120 mm. Same as what York and Climax do. Not seen the other two in the flesh so can't compare them. But where the job requires it i can get to 2 thou with a fiddle. Generally get .05 to .1 big for pins and .05 to .1 for jacking bushes not had any real problems tolerances. Few niggles with machine when new that were sorted out quite quickly. If I was going to get another would look to get a York next I think Cilmax if I had the money, only problem is the weight of the machine when setting up.

thous,:beatsme, trying to use those mm yokes now for all my work,, can you change over easy to the welding bar, got Sir Mecchanic myself

  13. #13dabsfabs2013-08-06 01:47

Here's some more. This is of take Trex 860 back hoe and modifiying front bucket to suit JCB quick hitch. Picture below is the first one, last two shows the brackets in place. Never got one of it all paint as had to go somewhere else to do a job.

  14. #14dabsfabs2013-08-06 12:51

To change to welding lance all i do is undo collects on the back slide out boring bar, slide lance in do up, flick lever to the welding setting dial in feed rate on push/pull and start welding. And not forgetting to rotation motor into neutral. Then your ready to weld.

  15. #15dabsfabs2013-08-07 12:53

Here's some pictures of shear that pushed the front jaw out. Cutting inch thick stainless plate at the time. Demolition job on an explosive factory safety was night mare at time and slack another day. Back in all welded up and hard faced to.

  17. #17dabsfabs2013-08-29 02:51

Just going though photos. One of the areas the costumer wanted rebuilding. Here are the teeth all built up and hard faced never heard anything so can only assume the were happy. So can only hope that its still working OK. And pick up a lot work from same person off the back of this one.

  18. #18dabsfabs2014-05-19 02:10

  19. #19dabsfabs2014-11-16 12:59

Here the biggest machine I have worked on to date. Komatus WA1200. , , As we can see bores were pretty well worn.

  20. #20RayF2014-11-16 17:20

    I love those jobs!

  21. #21dabsfabs2015-03-22 15:23

Fornt end of an 8 ton excavator that was in need of attention. Bush went slack in hole end result broken plate. The top that broke was profile off with pug, new profile were made in house and evertthing was line bored of the two lower pins holes. As these bores were undamaged. Client painted machine afterwards.

  22. #22Strachan2015-03-22 17:36

Doosan dx80 not the first one I have seen gone like that but a very tidy repair

  23. #23RayF2015-03-22 21:38

    Tidy work.

  24. #24dabsfabs2015-04-16 15:43

, , Modifications carried to a standard DX140r to assist with work a forestry work here in the UK. Not what some forum members would class as a forestry spec machine. There has been other mods carried to the machine, heavy duty belly plates, moving all the pipes so the pass though gap between dipper boom. Blade under been mod stop stumps coming up though and stuck. Lots of smaller than can't be seen and to much to list.

  25. #25CM19952015-04-16 18:51

Nice work dabs!:drinkup If you were only closer I would have you fab up some rub rails for my 321 like you did for that Doosan. Someone (I don't know who... ) put a nasty dent in the panel below the door while doing a demo job last year.

  26. #26dabsfabs2015-12-31 12:48

Put some more pictures of what been up to of late. This group is of Komatsu WA700, bored loader arms and both ends of tipping link. Job from start to final client pulled the bushes in them selfs.

  27. #27Melness642016-01-01 04:51

They're not operators if they don't look after equipment ,as for not greasing that's kindergarden **** in my book ,fortunately i get paid service time but to be honest i'd be doing it anyways pad or unpaid . Cool thread and interesting work ,done a fair bit of fabricating and welding in my day ,this line boring is cool .

  28. #28dabsfabs2016-01-01 12:44

This with Komatsu equipment have a team of blokes that go round greasing all the kit. It tends be the recycling companies that don't grease. I've found over the years.

  29. #29frodomocho12016-01-01 14:34

Ever weld up an H link that is cracked around on the bottom bore? If so what kind of rod or welder? I have a Millermatic 250 with 045 gas flux core wire, would that work?

  30. #30dabsfabs2016-05-16 10:53

Here a few picture of some of the work we have lately. Vemeer shredder in feed steel belt. Had to remake these item for small Komatsu dozer, also had to mod the dozer booms to take the larger balls with new castings also. I'll look out some photos in a bit to put up.

  31. #31dabsfabs2017-02-11 02:14

Been a while since I've put anything up here in this bit. Here are some pictures of what I've been doing since my post. First few are of concrete pump boom.

  32. #32dabsfabs2017-02-11 02:17

Here the others pictures of concrete pump boom.

  33. #33dabsfabs2017-02-11 02:20

With set we had to change Komatsu shanks to CAT shanks at a clinets requset.

  34. #34Graham12017-02-11 05:47

I think they had their monies worth out of the old bushes! The loader bucket looks like it has been in the horrible granite sand from Lee Moor, near Plymouth. So hard and abrasive the wear is huge. Graham

  35. #35BuMach2017-02-17 14:36

nice stuff! i'm also using the Elsa (had a 2015 easy, but traded it in for the heavier sc40/1) worked with Sir meccanica and Elsa, and i think the elsa has more pluspoint then the Sir, so i like it. especially when you go above the 250mm bore sizes the elsa seems to have enough power left to handle it well. I also like the UK dealer, i bought my machine from my dutch supplier but parts etc come from the UK. good luck with the work and keep posting the pics, looks a lot like the jobs im doing so Always interesting to see. cheers Meindert

  36. #36CM19952017-02-17 21:27

The GET did it's job on that loader bucket. Good job dabs.

  37. #37dabsfabs2017-10-06 14:04

  38. #38dabsfabs2017-10-19 05:54
