The fill plug is on the top right side of the machine... you will need a 30mm or 1"3/16 socket and a breaker bar to remove plug... remove plug slowly there will probably be return pressure there... sight glass for hyd level is in the right hand side rear door, halfway up on your right side looking at the hyd pump. Things to look for is undercarriage wear, final drive leaks, pin and bushing wear in the stick boom and bucket...cracks in boom* have seen a few on those 315's*...inspect all cylinders... check for any major leaks unusual noise or smoke.... check engine oil and coolant (for contamination of other fluids)....if wanting aux lines make sure they are there!... those 315's are great machines... very versitle and reliable...good luck!

Check the swing drive oil and final drive oil levels as well. Try to get a little oil out of the final drives and make sure it isn't milky. If it has been in water or soupy mud you can get a little water in them. If you bought the machine from a dealer and it was serviceed before you bought it you should be ready to go. If you bought it at an auction or from a private seller I would do a PM4 service which consists of changing all fluids. Cat oil is high, high, high. There are several manufactures of oil that are Cat/TO-4 compliant. I use Conoco hydraulic oil and Trans/final drive oil. It is about 1/3 of the price of Cat oil. I would check all of the fitting on the boom and stick just to make sure they are tight and not leaking.
