Hello Folks, I am wondering if it is possible to add the "Advanced Machine Information and Control System The optional Advanced Machine Information and Control System (AMICS) provides easy to read analog gauges for hydraulic oil and engine coolant temperature. The electronic display provides additional operating information such as engine speed, job clock and diagnostic service codes. Selectable Work Speed Control and Selectable Implement Control allow the operator to dial in his machine to maximize production" to a machine that was not ordered with it? (Caterpillar 289C) Are all the connections to the sensors under that blank plastic piece on the right side where the AMICS would go if you ordered it? If possible, how hard would it be to install it? Thanks in advance for any help,
Pretty sure the Cat guys on here will want to know the serial number of your machine.
Hello Sir, Sorry, my bad, this is the serial number JMP00253 Thanks
The simple answer to your question is yes. However the caveat is that it might empty your wallet at the same time ...... To help with the investigation do me a favour. Call your Cat dealer and ask their Sales Dept what is the "Group Part Number" for the AMICS system if it is ordered already installed in a new machine. From that number I can work out a breakdown of every part it needs to install on your machine.
Hello Nige, Thank you for your response. I will call my dealer on Monday to find out the information, but I decided to do some digging around. I found some part diagrams for the cab maybe these would help? https://parts.cat.com/AjaxCATPartLo...w46LAJg==&storeId=21801&serialNumber=JMP00255 --- https://parts.cat.com/AjaxCATPartLo...rIFviMw==&storeId=21801&serialNumber=JMP00255 A wire going to the area of the ACIMS location #31 --- https://parts.cat.com/AjaxCATPartLo...erialNumber=JMP00255&keyword=Instrument&link= (Search Link) Thank you Nige for your help,
It's more than a monitor and a few simple electrical hookup s?..Thete is that little thing called code that is loaded on the machine through the ECM that ties it all together....that's where the pain in the wallet enters....much cheaper to buy with than to add after the fact..
