Bought an idler and rollers for New Holland tracked machine today. There are grease ports (small Allen head plugs) on one side of the rollers and idler. What are the service options for those? Can a grease nipple be installed to accept grease gun recharges? Or should they stay sealed? I thought these heavy rollers and idlers were "sealed" with no greasing options...my first construction machine.
Those allen head plug ports are used to fill the void inside the unit with oil after the unit is assembled, it takes a special tool to inject the oil while purging the air inside the void. Once it's filled the plugs are fitted, grease maintenance is not required.
I agree with willie59!
