We have an Allis Chalmers HP21P Dozer that if it sits for a week or more, when you go to use it, it won't steer. We have taken the lines off the steering clutch filter housing inlet side and poured oil in there, and after working the steering clutch handles you can get it to prime and then it is ok and if you run it every few days it will be ok but if you let it sit a week or more you have to repeat the process once it is working it is fine. Where course of action should I take to remedy this issue.
Follow the suction line back to the bevel case. You probably have a pinhole rusted into the line under a pile of dirt in the belly. Or maybe a loose clamp on a rubber hose connector. I've seen both happen.
is that the big steel line that runs back to the transmission that has to be accessed thru the belly pan and is there a strainer in there someplace?
Should be the larger solid tube line, if the flex connection hoses are old have probably dry rotted or someone substituted non-oil resistant hose and is coming apart, had that happen on my 7G loader. Mine also has multiple suction connections where a bad suction HOSE to a different trans pump was sucking air and giving fits, this was a New hose and worthless.
