I usually figure 18 to 20 yards, but I am mostly in rocky material, or sandy. Neither is great for getting a good load factor in the truck. Here in my neck of the world, if you want topsoil, you take sand and add to it to manufacture it. Therefore I have no experience hauling it, but I know it will stack up nice in a truck. If I had to guess, I would say 22 or so since it piles so high.

Thanks for your response again my topsoil is very dry but it still gets stacked higher than the heigth of the front headboard of the beds the problem im having is the superintendent for the company im working for has told me he thinks i should cut back to 18 bank yds. They have just set up gps another guy does'nt think they have done an accurate measurment thinking maybe not enough shots have been taken. Im just stripping topsoil they are moving yellow wet clay down into and thru the hardpan. he told me that his gps says he has billed xxxxxx yds to much yardage out of the pit .Their trucks have material stuck in the beds and need to be cleaned often that could be part of the reason he is off, we started this job agreeing to count trucks at 20 banked yards per load and keep track of loads per shift funny time to change the count. My trucks have only had to be cleaned out maybe 4 times since we started in July and i just added the ejectors a month ago. The super said to me they have been hauling 500 plus loads per shift and if you have 3yds stuck in their often what is it? I said probably a buttload he said your right but my trucks have not had that problem so i think i need to know more on just how much bank yds these things carry from other peoples experience, im going to do some test with my gps and my own engineer im leary.

Sounds to me like they are trying to set you up to get the short end of the stick when it comes to payment time. Good luck with that battle.
