Hi All, I am not sure if this is the correct forum to post. If not, please move to the correct one. We purchased 3 Volvo EC300DL excavators 3 months ago. Now, I am researching Automatic Lubrication Systems for the machines. My questions are: Do you advise to use ALS? There are two different models as TWIN and SKF KGF. Has any of you used one of these models? TWIN is twice as much as SKF. Does it worth the value? Thank you in advance
Never had a machine with autolube but set up is key for performance the volumes of grease needed at each fitting will vary. Also over the life of the system it should be tweaked to account for the inevitable wear on the joints that are being lubricated. The machine still will need to be visually inspected to make sure all the grease points are receiving the proper amount of grease and that the lines for the autolube are intact as well as maintaining the supply for the system. For me as an owner operator daily greasing is the time I spend each day visually checking components, looking for leaks, or problems on my machines hoping to put out the campfire before the forest burns so to speak. For a big operation with dedicated oilers and mechanics the systems make sense to maximize uptime and free up manpower for more pressing issues than the daily greasing
