Gm all. I have a 1993 JLG 40RTS. It will not start. It will crank and want to start but will not. The governor appears to want to work when it feels like it. Sometimes when you turn key on the governor will move once like it is supposed to then other times it will not. It has the old E301 governor assembly in it. It has the Ford VSG411 dual fuel engine in it. Any help is much appreciated. Oh and nowhere can I find the wiring diagram for the controller. I have checked the coil pack and appears to be fine as well as the plugs.
Welcome renchr01. you mentioned the engine is dual fuel, it won't start on either gas or propane? If you're working on gas only, check for power at the fuel shut-off solenoid right on the base of the float blowl. Single terminal, looks like a sending unit. There could also be a gasoline shut-off valve in the fuel line between the fuel pump and the carburetor, check that for power as well. All it takes is a bad toggle switch on the dual fuel to stop you dead. Also, the choke on those carbs liked to stick/jam either open or closed. You've confirmed that you have spark, right?
