Batch plant tear down

Tiny ยท 2010-07-13 22:13

Got in on helping to tear down a concrete batch plant. Was the only truck there so I was busy and there aren't many pics. It's been sitting on state ground for 2 years so things were a little tough to get apart. Also in someones infinite wisdom,They just walked away from the plant. So the thieves and junk stealing type's picked this over pretty good. Estimated 35,000 dollars of electrical cable was sawed off and stolen.A ton of small parts sitting on the ground are gone too.

Man, that looks like a beautiful productive plant, dual wet-batch and someone just left it there? Some people just have no clue.

metal thieves will still every... One of Kiewit companies ... left their concrete pavers and stuff setting down here for 3 or 4 years back in the 80's.... Then one day they were there hauling it out... I find it strange to lose that much equipment for that long of time..

Actually..Its done ...LOl alot Company I used to work for lost a P/U truck ...found it buried in a snow bank in the city..snow had to go somewhere..and the keys were still in it... same company ..misplaced and forgot a couple of Broderson's and a small RT.. I know a couple of guys from another crane outfit were saying the company loses trailers, a few to half dozen a year ..on top of what gets stolen was on a job where there was a 90ft manlift..these guys used it for a year and a bit ...nobody came looking for it..and left it there when they were done ..still after a few months returning to the same job it was still parked ,keys in it ..never moved.. Had two friends on the dock's that unloaded three Ford farm tractors as per manifest ...they sat for along time nobody would take ownership or take them back..then went a half hour down the road to the auction house ..no questions or, anybody ..cash is cash ...right? It happens....

APAC SC is famous for losing, (and occasionally "finding") equipment. A few years ago a friend of mine's Case backhoe disappeared out of a customer's front yard, beside a newly widened road. A few weeks later he was driving through a work zone 50 miles away and saw it working. He stopped and was finally able to claim it after an arguement during which he pointed out that all the other machines had APAC stickers and one had a Palmetto Excavating sticker on it. Turns out, an APAC truckdriver had taken it off of that lawn with the APAC equip. that was on the shoulder.(I didn't think to ask him how many gradestakes the guy ran over.) They ended up taking it to the dealer and having a complete service done and hauling it to his shop. He changed the key switches in all his machinery.
