what is the best engine in one of the older big frame cats,3306,3176,3196,kind of like the 3306 for a in house wrencher with lots of parts around but might lack a few ponies.looks like they where all the same weight just different hp.
If you want something non-electronic why not a 3406..? Not sure how easy it would be to shoehorn one in the smaller models though.
I always wondered why they never built the challenger with one,a lot of guys will not argue with a 3406b being the best cat ever,i bet the block is just to long.i would think the tranny will handle it,lots of guys say the 10 sp power shift is very over built in these.Nige now you got me thinking I just finished up my cat frankendozer why not a frankenchallenger.
They didn't have electronic HP control until the C15 I believe? By that time the 3176 and 3196 had proven themselves. All the Challengers that have the -76 and -96 engines are variable HP. Reduced engine power until 4th gear.
