Ford made a pretty good dozer . Easy on fuel & plenty of power . Have had some trouble with the front idler's when the Old Man is operating ........ At least it don't take long to swap one out until the next round . LOL! HeavyEquipmentForums

Stri-i-ctly speaking, TD, that isn't a dozer. It isn't yellow or orange. Now my K008 has a blade, so...

That's what I keep tellin the Old Man but he dozes on with it ................... At least I get the service call's . " Hey sonny , the Fords down in the north pasture " . " how long will it take ya to fix the wheel ? " LOL !

Looks like he may have dozed on it. How is it for low speed talk?

Have to say it, and will catch hell but the Allis 41B was a hard machine to beat. Later version Fiat Allis was a FD50 with a Cummins in it, lasted to 1989.

Not common machines over here, so can't comment. We had a lot of Terex's at one time, and more than a few IH's. From the late sixties Cat ruled on construction and mining, but we're getting a few Komatsus and the odd Liebherrs working here now.

41B ran in the 70 ton range the FD 50 closer to 80 ton. Hard to move around.

LOL ! Low end torque of the 3 cylinder 201 cube engine is most of the problem .

HD 41 Allis Chalmers held the biggest production dozer position in it's time . Had to crawl up on a Cat D9 so you could reach the seat of a 41 .

Allis agricultural crawlers were very well regarded in the UK at one time, but there were never many of their dozers here. Terex and IH did well here for a time. I think best dozer depends on your viewpoint, whether you're operator or owner, and the application. As an operator, I've rated some equipment as an operator that I'd never put my own money into, for example the old 82-50 Terex and the older Cases. Newer kit there isn't much to choose between them from the cockpit, and uptime depends a lot on the dealer support. Dressta only have one dealer in the UK so if you're the opposite end of the country, you're stuffed. Not sure Case have much of a presence for dozers anymore either. Cat are everywhere, and Kommies are pretty well covered.

Komatsu started hard here, lots of service dealers good parts supplies where that is rapidly disappearing. A few select dealers that did volume, parts that may or may not be 4-14 weeks out and nothing interchanges from one machine series into the next. A lot like the Japanese cars and motorcycles, planned obsolete in ten years or less.

That's my limited experience of Komatsu here, okay when they're working, but Jack-all support when they get a bit older and need tlc. Can't understand the mentality, as it's doing nothing to sell new machines. I've only been on small to mid Komatsus, and to be honest as an operator I preferred them over the equivalent pre-hystat Cats. There's hardly any older ones still running, though. They've handed the UK to Cat on a plate.
