Hey Guys, New to the forum, seems to be a great place with lots of info. Looking for some thoughts on the best place to move a small heavy equipment repair business. We are just a 3 man business my dad, my brother, and myself, we do all aspects of heavy equipment repair, although we do specialize in engine and powertrain. We have been in the business for over 40 years. We work on everything from old to new. We are looking for a place that is in need of our services, we are currently in California and they are killing us with the cost of living, the cost to do business, and all the emissions crap. Anyway any thoughts, suggestions, and info are greatly appreciated. Thank You!!!!!!

You might try checking areas of companies seeking mechanics and then visit the area. Weather in the promised land is a lot different than most other places where they are looking for wrenches. I've heard rumors of a new mine in Wyoming but I don't know that for a fact. The weather there generally sucks most of the time compared to where you are now.

Thanks for the reply. Yeah we know the weather is going to be a major difference but we are willing to do whatever it takes, California is just killing us with all their crap. We are just looking for a place that needs us and we will work it out from there. We have been looking at Wyoming quite a bit seems like a great place, we have contacted them to get further information. Looking for any info we can get about any where that anyone would suggest or recommends.

Wifes uncle did that type of work here in west MN as a self employed one man operation untill about 2 years ago. He was always turning away work. Lot of stuff he did on site and worked the whole state plus east ND adn SD. Don't think anyone really filled that nitch. Rick

I know a guy that has a nice shop in Northeastern N.C. that wants to sell. He did Engine rebuilds there, mostly re-powering big boats. fishing/sports boats. I believe it's right on the outer banks, that would keep you in warm weather for most of the year He retired and moved to Maine and loves it. David

I have a back yard tractor repair and machine shop in south Louisiana. You might be able to buy the house, shop and all.
