Bobcat 442 instrument panel replacement options

cped · 2025-07-28 00:31

Has anyone replaced an Instrument Panel on a Bobcat 442 excavator, same as Terex HR32? Mine is currently severely corroded and looking like non repairable. Are there other options to possibly bypass the Instrument Panel and setup a separate analog guage panel for the Boom Lift Meter, Fuel Guage and Oil Temp Guage? Then a toggle switch panel to engage hydraulics along with 2-speed tracks, breaker and blade float? Give me any thoughts of how a bypass could be accomplished. Can't seem to part with over $4000.00 for the Bobcat replacement, if available. Many thanks to those responding with viable ideas.

There is a dashboard like yours that displays water temperature, oil temperature, and fuel regardless of the model, but it is not suitable for you. The settings inside are only in Chinese.

Ordered a display yesterday for $4300...literally wanted to puke. Are you able to take some pictures of the 6 electrical connectors for me please? Someone stole the display from my machine and cut the harness right after connectors. Manual doesn't have any good pictures so I could order the connectors.Bobcat wants $11,600 for the harness...CRAZY!

These are the from the parts catalog. Hope it helps. Bobcat is no help with this machine.

Thank you! Really appreciate it! I have the service manual but unfortunately it doesn't break down what color the wires are and which spot they go to for the middle plug in the above photo you posted.

cped where did you get your display and how much did it cost you if you don't mind me asking?

@fourwheelinj1 Just ordered mine last week for mine. Had to order mine from the U.K. cause bobcat lost the display in transit and they are no on back order. I paid $4300 from remscotrading.com @fourwheelinj1 are you able to post pictures of the plugs going into display? When mine was stolen originally they cut my harness. Just trying to get this back together but the manual doesn't breakdown what wires ho where on plugs.

The 442 Service Manual has the wire cable colors identified along with X1, X2, X3 Terminal Connectors.

Bought through Yanmar direct out of Georgia, USA. Had to go through a Yanmar dealer. Still puking. $4200.00 plus shipping & taxes. Both Bobcat and Yanmar have you by the balls with this machine. And there is no reason for it. The 442's out there are now mostly not earning money and are bought by farmers and other individual hobbiests. This Panel, Display is no more than three analog guage indicators along with a row of idiot warning lights.

@cped thank you was over thinking this when I looked at this diagram originally.

    That’s unfortunate—-outrageous price gouging….

Anyone look into repairing their instrument panel first? Mine is still working but occasionally when you go to start it you get no lights or some functions don’t work. I can tap on the screen and everything starts working again. Should I try and see if it can repaired now while it is still functional? Who repairs something like this? Ours is a farm machine and 4300 isn’t in the budget.

Reach out to Isocell in South Carolina. They can repair at a fair price, includes lifetime warranty. Tell them Chris from Missouri sent you.

As far as trying to trouble shoot. Make certain you have good clean connections on both ground positive points. Check your connectors and look for loose or broken wires.

What’s the easiest way to pull the instrument cluster out? Does it lift out from the top once the screw is out or do you have to take something loose from the bottom. I haven’t messed with it yet just planning my approach.

The display has a tab on the bottom that "locks" it in place. I'd pull the top towards you and lift up.

Any know if "x4" connector for interface has a harness connected to it and if so which wires? Can't find any info in the manual. Maybe it's for diagnostics?

  18. #18cped2025-10-06 11:24

My guess on the X4 interface is for programming the Eprom when changing by the dealer. To my understanding there are no diagnostic capabilities.

Does anyone have any thoughts of where to start with identifying the wires going to x3? I followed the manual and put the wires in the correct spots. Unfortunately they're multi of the same colored wires. I was just going to switch them around until everything works as it should. Anyone see anything wrong with that or think that it's a bad idea? Really don't want to flip the cab unless I absolutely have to.

I do still have the old cluster. However, it is still with the repair shop. I had them hold on to it until the could find the replacement parts needed for repair. I didn't want to wait on the chances they could find parts in a more timely manner. It's already been too long now, but hopefully the get another unit in that is salvageable for parts.
