i have a '97 bobcat 753 that im having trouble with. first off the fuel solenoid will pull when i try to start but will go right now off once i let off the starter. i can hold it by hand and it will run just fine. i have changed both the solenoid and the fuel timer with no change. i have swapped fuses and relays with no effect. the second problem is the boss system will come on but the hour meter will only show dashes and the gauges will not register anything. anyone have any thoughts.
IF its a 3 wire sol. it has 2 operating systems.. 1 PULL & 1 HOLD.. Just remove it & test w/ some test leads & a battery.. the HOLD circuit may be burnt out inside the solenoid. BUT if it works off the machine, you def. have some more tracing to do.
i kinda figured i eliminated that part of the problem since i replaced the solenoid and the fuel timer
If it is a 3 wire solenoid then check the adjustment on the threaded end where it attaches to the arm on the motor. It has to be adjusted so the solenoid reaches its full amount of movement before the arm on the motor stops or the second coil in the solenoid won't grab. Adjust it so the arm on the motor almost touches its stop when the solenoid engages. I had the exact same problem and bought a new solenoid just to find out my old one was still good, it just wasn't adjusted right. Hope this helps.
^^^ what toolsnob said... if the linkage is out of adjustment, the "hold" part of the coil wont hold...
i just dont understand how it run perfect and was parked then the next time i went to use it it wont do anything.
welcome to the world of bobcats LOL
That's what happens when you mix electricity, moisture, vibrations, and dust. Things happen that don't make any sense and are seemingly unexplainable. One day my fuel gauge just quit working however the needle will move when I move the throttle even when it isn't even running
