Having a problem with the Kubota V2203-E, ser 0XE0325, in a 1999 763. Problem started when machine ran out of fuel, after refueling ran horrible. Pulled fuel filter, about 1/4 full of water. Filter changed, lines flushed, cranked and ran like a scalded dog so thought everything was ok. Ran great 10 minutes, then has to sit 20-30 min. Runs great another 10, then sit 20-30 min. Over and over. Could a bit of water have hit injector pump on 1 and 4, scored the pistons, so they work until heated up, then start binding?? To isolate the problem, bypassed fuel supply, strapped an outboard fuel tank on top of the machine, gravity feed to transfer pump, with a clear plastic hose at engine to verify no bubbles/water in the fuel. Same problem, runs great about 10 minutes, then starts skipping - have to shut down, wait and repeat. Cracked nuts on top of injectors after hot and running rough, #1 is skipping bad, #4 has low power but still firing, cyl 2 and 3 normal. Fuel is squirting good around lines on 2 and 3 when cracked, but not good on 1 and 4, SO thinking injection pump problems? To test injector pump output, wanted a known good injector: Book calls for injector 7023120 (was 6722147) injector assy, $232 each at dealer. Tried crossing over to Kubota tractor part with no success, but *guessing* aftermarket holder kit 16082-53903 (was 16082-53900) is close, so ordered one off internet for $57 with free shipping, for testing purposes. Problem is, I can't tear down machine because they are still running during the day, and whatever is done must be back together and running (even for 10 minute periods) at daylight. Plan is to pull injection line, and connect test injector to each pump section when hot and check spray pattern. If #1 and #4 are bad, should I attempt replacing 'delivery valves' referenced in Kubota info? Bobcat pump number is 7020869 (was 6674676) but no breakdown on pump. Kubota 'delivery valves' are 16475-51030, about $40 each. Worth a try? Thanks, William
Your trying to fix something "on the fly".. it doesn't work like that.. Either shut it down till it can be diagnosed or live with it, till it can be shut-down.. Delivery valve aren't gonna solve the problem.. I've been doing this for 35+ years.. trust me.. The coleman website will have a breakdown of your pump and injectors.. The pump & injectors are made by Zexel.. The ID # is stamped on the pump and inj. body but requires a special code to decipher it.. its only a "partial" #.. and the paint is probably so thick that you cant read it.. Probably the BEST THING you can do is "re-torque" the delivery valve holders to 35 ft lbs.. Those are the top nuts on the inj. pump.. fastest and easiest thing to try.. IF THAT FAILS>> try swapping the bad inj/cylinder with a known good one.. fast and easy.. 1 with 2 and 3w/4 and see what happens..if the problem switches cylinders.. you know the problem is with the injectors.. Good luck and let us know how you made out.. TPG
parts update I agree completely, but been working with this guy 15 years and is what I have to do to get the work ;-) Will have access to the machine tonight after shutdown. Aftermarket injector came in yesterday, will hook to a line and see what it does. Looked at building a pop tester from a bottle jack. Guessing I'd have to buy a spare hard line and cut up? Nuts are 17mm. Couldn't find breakdown on Coleman, went to Kubota.com, picked a similar engine tractor, L3300F (3 cyl version), got breakdown. Found a webpage from Zexel with stamping reference: http://www.zexel.com/stampingreference.htm Will see if numbers work when I can pull an injector. I'll try re-torque nuts first thing. Thanks for the advice, has been the most specific I've had! William
I like your attitude.. been there done that.. Lol Don't waste your time on the pop tester.. just pull them and run them down to the local fuel shop.. explain to them> YOU HAVE TO WAIT ON THEM takes about 10 minutes to test.. Making a pop tester takes a lot of hrs and a lot of time and aggravation.. finding fitting.. Let me know how far you've gotten and we'll go from there.. TPG
Got machine late, was a mess and had to pressure wash Sat night. Pulled injectors and glow plugs. Muffler was blown out, pulled as well, and might do exhaust manifold gaskets if I can get the parts fast. Monday will see about testing injectors. So far so good, thanks again
