Just got a 2000 864 Track loader with 1600 hours from an auction and we noticed that the left side rear drive motor is on an angle..if you go to the back of the loader and sight it up and down with the big lower idler pulley in the back, you can definitely see that it is leaning down. It still drives but if you go slow and at certain times you can feel this strange noise, like something is not right. Can anyone shed some light on what might be going on? The other side appears to be good.
The main bearing is probably worn so bad the housing is about to fall off
What does that all involve to fix that??
Take that POS to another auction and walk away. That was one of BC worst machines. Simply not cost effective to keep running.
As noted by mikebramel, the bearings in the final drive are toast. By the time they get to this point, not much left to repair, internal damage to final has already happened, will likely require final drive/drive motor replacement. Bad news, even if you go re-man, you're looking at near $2,700 bills. > http://www.loaderpartssource.com/bo...66675586-6674888-7109868-6684440-6680250.html I don't really want to go all radical by repeating what KSSS said, saying you wasted your money on a POS, but in reality, you have two choices, return it to an auction and cut your loss, or repair it knowing that, unless someone has already replaced it, the other final could crap out tomorrow.
If the machine was a T-250 or T-300 it would be worth repairing. The 864 was BC first tracked machine and with that came a lot of problems, the drives certainly at the top of the list. They don't resale well, their issues are well known. Its just not a machine to sink a bunch of money into..........its not being radical its just reality.
I hear where you're coming from KSSS, it's just so darn tough telling someone they may have sunk some hard earned cash into a money pit, but it's still reality.
I have a BC 864 with 2500 hrs on it now, I have replaced both drive motors and tracks now, but no other issues at all with it. It has been excellent in every way & we have kept it maintained very well. But overall is a workhorse and starts everytime even in cold temps. I would not be scared of it,,,
We removed the track and noticed these two things...the front roller is totally broke off and the frame that holds the drive motor to the skidsteer is bent downward?? How do you ever go about straigtening that thing back? Any ideas?
We also tried out the drive motor without the track on and couldn't feel any resistance or hear any strange noises or leaks etc. But when we sight up the sprocket with the skidsteer it is not going straight, something is bent but what? Does the frame have a slight bend to it or is it straight up and down?
