Bobcat S185 No heat

New S185 January 2013. Less than 200 hrs in November and no heat from heater & engine would not get to operating temp. Local dealer has been working on it since with input from Bobcat factory. New thermostat & EGR unit. They had me clamp off coolant line from EGR to radiator and had heat. They claim 3 or 4 other units in this area with same problem. They want to reroute some coolant lines but no factory parts for this fix and no service bulletins. 275 hrs on unit today. Suggestions.

Ask for a new unit, they can use yours as a demo unit when it's fixed.

It sounds like they will all do that because its a design flaw. Years ago the GM topkicks with a cat 3116 would run cold unless you pushed them hard. The problem was the heater line returned to the rad rather than the engine. This allowed too much coolant to bypass the thermostat. Ok for warm areas not so good for northerners. If the egr coolant line returns to the rad it will do the same thing. They will need to route the egr coolant back into the water pump to fix it.

The problem I have is that Bobcat claims of the thousands of these units made, only a few have this problem. Had a long conversation with the District Service Manager and they will add 3 years of warranty but they still have no service bulletins or reasons for this problem. The other part is that the unit worked well last winter but not this winter.

I wonder if it's an airlock or bleeding problem. Oh well spring is coming. Another 3 years warranty is a nice gesture.
