Does anyone out there know the name of the independent shop in new york state that buys, then refurbushes bobcats? A friend told me someone was telling him about the place. He said they take the machinrs and basically restore and sell them. I have a 1986 642 and was thinking of bringing it there and have them restore what was a machine my dad bought new. It runs good, and i can use it today, but i think it has a lower issue with chain or sprocket. It has 2885 hrs and was used around the property and he would let friends borrow it. It has not been beat on, and still looks ok, butbi would like it restored
That's not a lot of hours. Can't remember if a 642 uses a Ford 4-98 gas engine. If the engine doesn't need any work is good. I'm not sure how good parts support would be so you might want to look into that first. Do you have a budget in mind? I'm thinking a place that specializes in restoring Bobcats isn't going to be cheap. A 642 was a good machine but a little smaller rated at 1000lbs. lift capacity.
