what could cause the boom of a 100054 skytrak not to retract and need all the wearpads, hydraulic lines and the fork carriage to be replaced?
If your boom extend retract cylinder is not working right it will not retract right .also broken chain in boom.ware pad can get worn out by not using the proper dry lube instead of grease like some people use.hoses can ware out from age.not sure why you need to replace fork carriage.
we were told that someone pulled something with the carriage and this caused the boom to fail to retract this does not make sense to me so i am looking for 2nd opinion as to if this is possible as i think it would take alot of pull and the boom would have needed to be fully extended
the boom actually would retract but the chain was binding and not retracting then the wear pads started falling out of the boom all of this was said to be caused by pulling with carriage because some welds on carriage were found broken
Is the boom bent at all. More than one boom has been bent in the company that I work for. Most got bent because they put snow buckets on them and hit hard objects with the outer end of the bucket at speed. Any bend at all and they are done. All the buckets were removed from the projects a few years ago and that problem stopped. We had at least other one bent by using the boom retraction to try to pull loose a froze down pile of stockpiled rebar. It actually had a slight curve upwards from pulling on the carriage. Hardly noticeable but it did a number to it. I'm sure they won't weld your cracked carriage due to liability issues.
